Enhanced Durability and Stability
The addition of glass fibers to the ABS matrix significantly improves the filament’s mechanical properties, resulting in increased tensile strength and impact resistance. This makes it ideal for creating robust and long-lasting prints that can withstand stress and strain without breaking or deforming.
High-Temperature Resistance
With a Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) of up to 93C, ABS-GF filament is designed to withstand higher temperatures without deforming, ensuring reliability in applications exposed to heat. This feature makes it suitable for automotive parts, electronic enclosures, and other components subjected to elevated temperatures.
Precision Printing
The incorporation of glass fibers reduces shrinkage and warping, leading to more precise and accurate prints. This is critical for industrial and automotive applications where dimensional accuracy is essential. The filament’s rigidity also enhances print stability, resulting in consistent quality across prints.
Lightweight Yet Strong
Despite its enhanced strength, ABS-GF filament maintains a relatively low density, making it suitable for applications where weight is a concern. This combination of strength and lightweight properties is beneficial for parts like drone frames, automotive components, and sporting equipment.
Storage and Drying Recommendations
ABS filaments are prone to moisture absorption, which can adversely affect print quality. To maintain optimal performance, store ABS-GF filament in its original moisture-resistant aluminum foil bag with desiccants when not in use. If moisture absorption is suspected, dry the filament at 65°C for 4–6 hours before printing to prevent issues like bubbling and poor surface finish.
