Material Overview
Prusament ASA is a high-quality acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) filament manufactured with tight production tolerances to ensure consistent diameter and reliable performance. ASA shares many similarities with ABS but offers improved UV resistance, better long-term color stability and generally lower shrinkage. This makes it especially suitable for parts exposed to sunlight and changing weather conditions.
The material is designed for functional use rather than decorative prints. It performs well in applications where durability, dimensional stability and resistance to environmental stress are essential.
Heat, Mechanical and UV Performance
With a heat resistance of up to approximately 93 °C, ASA is well suited for components exposed to elevated temperatures or continuous mechanical load. It provides good rigidity combined with impact resistance, allowing printed parts to maintain strength without becoming brittle.
One of ASA’s key advantages is its resistance to UV radiation. Parts printed in ASA retain their mechanical properties and color even after prolonged outdoor exposure, making it a reliable choice for external housings, brackets, fixtures and automotive components.
Printing Considerations
ASA requires higher printing temperatures than PLA or PETG. A nozzle temperature around 260 °C and a heated bed around 110 °C are typically recommended. Like other styrene-based materials, ASA can warp during cooling, particularly on larger models, so printing in an enclosed environment is strongly advised for best results.
Good ventilation is recommended during printing. Since ASA can absorb some moisture from the air, storing the filament in a dry environment helps maintain optimal print quality and surface finish.

The 800g spool includes a fully rewritable NFC tag based on the open OpenPrintTag standard. Compatible printers and applications can read key material data directly from the spool, simplifying setup and minimizing the risk of incorrect print settings.
The system works locally without requiring cloud connectivity, supporting efficient and reliable workflows.
Who It’s For
Prusament ASA (NFC) is ideal for experienced users who need a durable, UV-resistant filament for functional parts and outdoor-ready components. It offers a strong balance of mechanical performance, heat resistance and long-term stability, making it a dependable choice for demanding projects.
